The division is catering to the ICT requirements of the laboratory at Taramani and Trisoolam campuses. Providing uninterrupted internet connectivity through the NKN 1 Gbps link, maintenance and regular updation of the CSIR-SERC website, live streaming of events through YouTube, social media posts, cloud services, campus wide LAN management and maintenance are some of the activities of the ICT division.
The ICT Division, through its diligent efforts has ensured that the CSIR-SERC website is GIGW compliant. Ensuring safety, security, reliability of the IT Infrastructure along with 24 x7 availability of all services has been the moto of the ICT Division.
CSIR-SERC has always been a forerunner in adapting new technologies. In this context, the IT infrastructure has been upgraded to a state-of-the-art Hyper Infrastructure (HCI). The potential impact of the HCI is that the compute and storage needs of the laboratory is taken care of through this single system. It also simplifies management and ensures optimal resource utilization of high-end IT resources. The HCI hosts a number of critical and widely-used applications including the Intranet, Online Equipment Booking System (EBoSS), Antivirus server, KRD server, Recruitment applications, File cloud, Active Directory Controller, Form server, KOHA server, etc. At CSIR-SERC, the HCI of Nutanix has been installed.
Some of the other services being provided include - email services through NIC, Video Conferencing / MS Teams meeting facilitation, repair and maintenance of desktop systems, application development for recruitment of different posts/ Conference / Events/ website and paper review management using open source technologies, maintenance of the AEBAS attendance system, etc.
