Advanced Seismic Testing and Research Laboratory(ASTaR)

There is a working lab space of about 800 sq.m along with control rooms measuring 100 sq.m from which all the major equipment on the test floor are visible. The lab has a high ceiling approximately 16 m in height. The laboratory has an additional office space of about 375 sq.m both on the ground level and on the mezzanine level for discussions and working. The testing area consists of the strong floor, reaction wall and shake tables. The shake tables cover an area of 75 sq.m  underneath which high capacity actuators are located. The area is totally open for ease of testing and moving of materials. The lab is specially equipped with two overhead cranes with a cumulative capacity of nearly 50 tonnes which can be moved along the length and breadth of the lab.

The basement area of about 340 sq.m can be made use of to house large sophisticated equipment.

The ASTaR Lab has comprehensive facilities and expertise to carry out full scale seismic and vibration testing of structures and heavy components. The laboratory has made use these facilities and expertise available to serve various industries connected with energy sector and construction.

Shake Table

Two 6-DOF shake tables (possible for synchronization)
