CSIR-SERC–BMTPC Grant-in-Aid Project

• Main Objective: Identify/formulate a systematic methodology for estimating the seismic vulnerability of brick masonry buildings

  Salient deliverables:

  • Identification of ‘storey drift’ as a good quantitative measure for classifying the damage- state/grade of the brick masonry buildings
  • A procedure for development of capacity curve for brick masonry buildings
  • A methodology for carrying out seismic vulnerability analysis of brick masonry buildings
  • A simple first order procedure for estimating expected regional seismic loss
  • Identification of different techniques generally being adopted for retrofitting unreinforced brick masonry buildings
