Client : Sterlite Industries Limited, Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu    Period: April 2009-December 2009

  • Effect on compressive strength of M25 and M40 grade concretes with 25%, 50% and 100% replacement of conventional river sand with copper slag (CS)
  • Test for plasterability of CS based cement mortar on brick surface
  • Evaluation of CS based cement mortar as a joining material for use in brick masonry construction

Benefits

  • Increase in density up to 19%
  • Workability is improved
  • Compressive strength is increased
  • With 100% replacement slight bleeding tendency
  • Copper slag – Plastering of floorings and horizontal surfaces up to 50 % by mass
  • his can be reduced up to 25 % by mass for vertical surfaces
  • Copper slag is not suitable for use in ceiling plaster
  •  Generally, fine aggregate passing 2.36 mm sieve is suitable for plastering
